About

The idea

Peter Wolf was given a Starlink Mini antenna by his son Matt, in December of 2024.  Peter, a lifelong inventor and entrepreneur, was enamored with Starlink’s capabilities and immediately recognized its potential as a vital emergency communications tool.  It just needed some batteries to operate independently of conventional power and cell services.

Within two weeks, Peter had constructed a prototype unit.

Within a month Peter applied his extensive engineering and physics expertise and designed, built and sold 5 fully operational WolfSOS cases to friends and acquaintances.  By March 2025, a marketing team developed a website and the WolfSOS design was ready for production.

The design

The design of WolfSOS was reminiscent of another Satellite Communications tool that Peter developed in 2017 to track bicyclists.

This RFID tracking device in 2017 was a portable apparatus, housed in a protective case, that allowed communication to low orbiting satellites (RockBlock).  It was powered by internal batteries and controlled by integrated circuits and an internal router with WiFi and Bluetooth I/O.  In 2019 Peter developed an enhanced satellite communications device (PCI Satcom) that allowed mounting the apparatus to structures and drew external power from solar panels or other sources.

The RFID tracking device and PCI Satcom were commercially available and used until March of 2020 when the COVID pandemic brought an abrupt stop to organized event activities.  PhotoCrazy, Inc. dropped to $0 revenue, overnight!

The legacy

PhotoCrazy, Inc. dropped to $0 revenue, overnight!  Peter worked as a Test Driver for Volkswagen of America until his son gave him a Starlink Mini in 2024 and the entrepreneurial and inventive spirit created WolfSOS.
